Neil qualified at Guys hospital in 1982 and completed an MSc in Fixed Prosthodontics at the Eastman Dental Institute in London in 1988. He was awarded his first PhD at Imperial College in 1992 and second from The University of Gothenburg in 1996 where he invented a method to measure implant stability now known as Osstell. He also invented an implant system, Neoss in 1999. Neil has always been a very active clinician and is a specialist in Prosthodontics (UK
and Australia) and Restorative Dentistry (UK). He placed his first dental implant in 1989.
Most recently he has been Head of Dentistry at the University of Queensland (2013-5) and James Cook University (2015-21). He now focusses on patient treatment and education, running an Institute (PGIDS.org) to train dentists on implant patient treatment. Neils passion is patient care, providing excellent solutions to restore patients health, confidence and smile with a calm reassuring manner.
